Yep, that's right... we have a gig coming up... our first gig of the year, and our first gig in (just over) a year.

Original: Last Forgiveness (2008)

The latest finished song to emerge from the studio is Last Forgiveness, which is the first song I brought to the table in Necessary Distraction. This is an "updated" version with somewhat different arrangement, instrumentation, and vocal stylings compared to the original version. It does maintain the big "arena rock" ending, of course!

Originals: Through the Years / I'll Find You Hiding

Today we managed to finish up two songs... the first (Through the Years) is a completely new song (haven't jammed on it with any band... yet) and is the only song we've got that's all acoustic (no electric guitars in the mix). I'll Find You Hiding is a song we've been playing for just over a year now with Necessary Distraction--it's definitely one of the darker sounding songs we've got. Here are the links to the MP3's:

Original: Rock of Gibraltar

Sunday afternoon we managed to finish up another track called Rock of Gibraltar, which is one of the most straight-forward rock songs we've written over the years. This song's probably about a year old, and we've been jamming around on it with Necessary Distraction ever since it was written. Everything but the guitar solo was recorded last week... it was actually copied from a demo version of the song recorded back in January.

Originals: Empty Walls / Perspective

Here are two more originals, both of which are songs we've been playing for about a year with Necessary Distraction. The chord progression for Perspective dates back to 1998 (it was one of the first songs I ever wrote/recorded) though it has been re-arranged a bit with completely new lyrics as presented here.

Tonight's project... polishing up an old track from the pre-Necessary Distraction days when we thought we were going to be a blues band. Pretty simple music, pretty simple lyrics... feels like it would make a good "bonus track" for our upcoming CD.

Here are two originals... one (Undone) that we've been playing with Necessary Distraction for about a year now, one (This Way for Good, otherwise known as Melodi-huge) that we've been jamming around on for a few months now. I recorded the music for both during the past week, then we worked on vocals and mixing today. Check 'em out:
